Basic parameters of bearing: bearing inner diameter D width ratio B/L

D—The outer diameter of the bearing is determined according to the bearing load. Generally, the average pressure on the pad is preferably equal to 1.5 to 3.5 MPa. There is an even-loaded bearing, and the pm=up to 6 to 7 MPa.

d—The inner diameter of the bearing determines the ratio of the outer diameter to the outer diameter of the bearing, D/d. It is generally advisable to use D/d=1.2 to 2.5. D/d determines bearing width B.

B—bearing width, B=(Dd)/2. Generally, the ratio of width to length is about B/L=1 and B/L=0.6 is about two-way rotation.

z—The number of bearing watts, which affects the length L of the bearing, generally taken from z=6 to 12, not less than 3, up to 20 or more. Excessive wattage will reduce the carrying capacity, but it can reduce the oil temperature.

α-Watt angle, α=360k/z, k=(0.7-0.85) is the fill factor.

L-pad length, L = kπ (D + d) / 2z, inter-tile groove width Lk = (1-k) π (D + d) / 2z.

The β-bend tilt height is the difference between the maximum clearance h1 and the minimum clearance h2 between the bearing and the journal, β=h1-h2.

H1, h2 are the maximum and minimum oil film thickness of the bearing. H2=hmin—The minimum oil film thickness is determined according to the principle of ensuring complete fluid lubrication. The large surface roughness Ra is taken as a large value, generally taking hmin≈2Ra=0.01~0.05 mm. Mounting of bearings with poor manufacturing accuracy should be increased.

β/h2—Watough ratio is the main technical parameter of the bearing design. You can click on the “calculate the different aspect ratio static” button to optimize. The optimal β/L≈1.2 is generally better than 1.2~2.0.
