HP introduces the first batch of wide-format printers jointly developed with Seiko Japan

Hewlett-Packard Company recently launched the first wide-format printer jointly developed with Seiko I Infotech Inc.

The six-color HP Designjet printer is designed for the printing of outdoor signage and displays. It is a low-solvent printing system that includes low-solvent inks, ink cartridges, cleaning and maintenance tools, and printing materials.

The HP Designjet 9000s has a print resolution of 72020 dpi and speeds of up to 20 square meters per hour. Hewlett-Packard claims that this is the cheapest model in this class of printers. It will begin shipping on March 1, 2006, and the Designjet 8000s series printer will have a printing speed of 10 square meters per hour. It will be available in May 2006.
