Application requirements

The campus network billing system is running at the Tsinghua University Network Center. This system is built on the Lenovo NS10000 2-node Oracle parallel database cluster system and was officially launched on February 02, 2002. With the construction of the Bauhinia Student Apartment District, more than 20,000 information points will be added to the campus network. The original database system needs to be expanded to accommodate more users.

At the same time, this system is built centrally in the network center. When an unexpected situation occurs in the entire network center, the normal operation of the system cannot be guaranteed, such as the overall power failure of the network center.

Therefore, in this expansion of the system, it is planned to build a second billing system in a different place (in the information center of the Bauhinia Student Apartment District). The systems at the two locations can be run simultaneously, and the performance is solved due to the increase in information points. System pressure. In addition, the newly built system and the existing billing system can also form a backup to improve the overall reliability of the billing system and ensure that the system runs normally and stably in 7 × 24 hours.

In order to ensure the reliability of the system, two fiber optic cables can be used for redundant connection between the two SAN switches (Brocade switches need to provide additional licenses). The two server systems in the network center and the Bauhinia apartment area are connected to the disk array cabinets of the two places through local SAN switches, that is, each server in the system accesses the disk array cabinets of the two places through the SAN switch. In the server configuration, start an instance on each of the two node machines in the network center and connect to the primary database, and start two instances and one instance connection on the two node machines in the Bauhinia apartment area. Go to the primary database (primary), and another instance is connected to the backup database (standby) for backup operations. Through the above configuration, a total of 4 servers and the main database in the two places constitute a 4-node Oracle9i RAC cluster system to undertake daily data service tasks; while the 2 servers and the backup database system in the Bauhinia apartment area form a 2-node Oracle9i RAC standby db system, It is activated when an unexpected situation occurs in the network center billing system.
