PET bottle regeneration: perfect interpretation of the "Green Olympics" concept

     According to reports, the waste plastic bottles are cleaned and UV sterilized by a variety of physical and chemical methods and processed into high-quality recycled bottle-grade plastic blocks - ultra-clean PET chips, which can be used to make clothing fibers and used in food and beverage packaging. The cycle of " plastic bottles - post - consumer spent bottles - recycled plastic blocks - plastic bottles " was achieved, achieving 100% recycling and greatly reducing energy consumption. The treatment process and equipment have been certified by the two major authorities of the US Food and Drug Administration and the International Life Sciences Society. Their products can completely replace the original bottle used for food and drug packaging. Such high value-added recycling makes the Beijing Olympic Games a veritable “ Green Olympics ” .

     According to reports, the good barrier properties of PET materials make it the fastest growing and most attractive plastic packaging variety in recent years. The waste plastic bottles in Beijing are increasing at a rate of 20% per year and are expected to reach 300,000 tons by 2010 . Previously, after these plastic bottles were recovered by small business hawkers, most of them could only undergo simple rough processing, which not only wasted resources but also polluted the environment. Plastic bottles are mostly made of petroleum as raw materials, and one ton of plastic bottles can be produced for every six tons of oil. The energy consumed to make recycled PET chips saves nearly 80% of energy compared to traditional PET production.
