Determination of trehalose in cosmetics by ion chromatography

An efficient anion exchange-pulse amperometric detection (HPAE-PAD) method for the determination of trehalose in cosmetics was established. Using different sample preparation methods, METROSEP CARB 1 separation column (150 mm × 4.0mm) was used for separation, and 200.0mmol / L NaOH solution was used as the mobile phase for elution. The analysis of the sample can be completed within 7 minutes. The results showed that the detection limit of trehalose was 0.02 mg / L, the relative standard deviation of the peak area was 0.17%, and the relative standard deviation of the retention time was 0.28%; the common glycerin and propylene glycol in cosmetics did not interfere with their determination. The average recovery rate is 95.2% to 99.2%.
